Ireland has very cool summers, especially at night. That’s why I’ve created the ultimate list of practical clothing to wear on any occasion in Ireland.
If you read my Packing Essentials for a Trip to Ireland blog post a couple of weeks ago, you’ll know that I was fully prepared for all sorts of weather conditions for my Ireland trip. What I may have neglected to mention is that I am the type that overpacks by a LOT.
I think of all possible scenarios and want as many options when I travel because, in my opinion, nothing is worse than not having a cute outfit or not having enough, especially with unpredictable weather. So when I wrote that packing list, I expected to come back to y’all and give you an update of what was actually necessary and what practical fits got me comfortably and stylishly through my week in Ireland.
While I am far from qualified to tell others to pack as minimalist as possible, I can however pass along the style tips and packing list items that were of absolute necessity and the most practical for my trip to Ireland.
Granted, Ireland was a lot warmer than we expected, and from what we were told, the weather was unusual. For example, during our trip, we experienced a range of high 60s to low 80s, with some overcast days and a few rainy afternoons. Nevertheless, here is what got the most use and what I appreciated most having with me while in Ireland
Fashion Trends I Saw While In Ireland
- Y2K and Grunge Inspired
I don’t think you have to worry too much about fitting in during your stay in Ireland. I saw a variety of styles, but I noticed that the most trendy style among the young adult crowd is a very Y2k-inspired grunge look. Loose-fitted jeans, short skirts with combat boots and tights, and oversized blazers, were all a common trend for fashion statement items.

Practical Outfits for A Day Of Exploring
- Jeans, Tank Top, and a Cardigan
You truly can’t go wrong with a great pair of jeans and a cute top with a cardigan. The temps and humidity can vary widely throughout the day which is why a tank top and cardigan are perfect for a day out exploring. You can easily shed a layer if it gets hot, but if it stays relatively mild during those Irish Summers, then your cardigan will keep you clothed just enough;)

This was my go-to combo whenever we went out for dinner, or if I just wanted to look a little more dressed up during our trip. Midi skirts are great for when you’ll be walking around a lot, as you don’t have to worry about the wind betraying you and everyone seeing your butt!
