Plane rides can be long and boring. Fortunately, these movies can help you pass the time and help you enjoy your ride.
If you’ve ever been on a long flight, you know how boring it can be. So what are you supposed to do when you’re 31,000 feet in the air with no wifi signal?
I like watching movies to pass the time on grueling flights, especially self-care movies. While most international flights come equipped with screens on the back of the seats and a small selection of movies to watch, I prefer to download my own movies ahead of time. So here are some of my favorite movies to watch while flying!
Sex and the City 1 & 2
The Sex and the City movies always make me feel like a glamorous NYC woman about town, even when I’m stuck sitting in a coach. These are the perfect movies to distract you from the fact that you’re sitting on a long flight!
The Holiday
I may be biased because this is one of my favorite movies of all time. Between the envy-worthy vacation homes that the two main characters are in and Jude Law, I can’t get enough! This is the perfect movie to escape your flight boredom for ninety minutes.
Bridget Jones’s Diary
Let’s be real; I feel like we’ve all related to Bridget Jones at some point in our lives. She is always entertaining, and her awkwardness is easily relatable (in my opinion), which makes her even more enjoyable to watch while stuck on a plane for multiple hours.
He’s Just Not That Into You
When I tell you this is a rom-com CLASSIC, I mean it. He’s Just Not That Into You always keeps me entertained on a long flight.
Bridesmaids
The plane scene always has me LOLing (if you know, you know). But, this is a good movie on any occasion, especially if you’re looking for movies to watch on girls’ night.
Mamma Mia
If you have a long flight back home and could use some travel inspo to plan your next trip, watch Mamma Mia. There is no way you won’t want to book your next trip to Greece after turning this musical on.
Orange County
Okay, so this is probably a movie that you haven’t heard of, and if you have, you likely haven’t watched it since the early 2000s. That isn’t because of the quality of this film– this film is just massively underrated in my opinion.
Being the youngest in my family, I was shown this film as a child, and it must have shaped my sense of humor because there is no other movie that makes me laugh as much as this display of a dysfunctional family system quite like this movie. Starring Tom Hank’s son, Colin Hanks, Jack Black, and Catherin O’Hara (our favorite dramatic TV mom, Moira, from Schitt’s Creek), this is one of the most hilarious casts to watch together.
Bonus: Schitt’s Creek
So this isn’t a movie, but you could basically fill your entire flight with entertainment by rewatching this series, and if you haven’t already watched this series, then you are in luck. You will be fully locked in and entertained for the entirety of your flight.
