Looking for a self-care night in to relax and unwind? Spend it watching some of these movies. These self-care movies are great for laughs or relaxation.
Self-Care nights are a girl’s favorite night! But, sometimes, the best way to self-care is to take a night to yourself, veg on the couch, and watch some entertaining movies.
If you’re looking for a movie to watch for your next night in, I’ve listed some of my all-time faves below. Conversely, I’ve also written about the best movies for a self-care girls’ night if you’re getting together with friends.
For those looking for a solo self-care night, put on some comfy clothes, light a candle, and curl up under a cozy blanket with one of these flicks!
13 Going on 30 – This is one of the best chick flicks of all time IMO. While it is a fun movie, it also serves as a great self-care film to relay that message/reminder that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Sometimes you got to take time to appreciate the present.
Bride Wars – I have watched this film a million times, and it never gets old or boring! While it is about two besties and makes for a great girls’ night in, it is equally as entertaining for a self-care night alone. If you’re looking for a self-care movie that will make you laugh, this movie is it.
Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion – Okay, so this movie just celebrated turning 25, and it deserves to still be on the top of the list for flicks to veg on the couch and watch for a self-care night in.
The movie is about two best friends who start to question their life paths since graduating high school and try their best to impress their classmates at their ten-year reunion. These two are a little out to lunch and live in their own world, but that makes them so fun to watch.
While this may or may not be the take-home message intended, I think we could all use this story to remind us that there is not one way to live your life as an adult. Also, you shouldn’t agonize trying to compare your life to someone else and just accept who you are.
Bridget Jones Diary – Any Bridget Jones Diary films are great for a self-care night. There is a reason that this series did so well, and that is because it is both entertaining to watch Bridget Jones and, at times, easy to relate to the growing pains of being a woman.
Bridget Jones Diary – This also makes the list of best self-care movies, especially after a break up. But it also serves as a great film to watch to remind you to take care of yourself and focus on self-growth.
Eat Pray Love – This also makes the list of best self-care movies, especially after a break up. But it also serves as a great film to watch to remind you to take care of yourself and focus on self-growth.
Mamma Mia! – Mamma Mia is a classic and perfect for ABBA fans (watch this one with your mom for a fun mother-daughter night in). If you are having a mom and daughter self-care night, check out these awesome tv shows to watch with mom!
Bridesmaids – This is the ultimate comedy movie for those pee-your-pants-laughing kind of nights.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants – This classic flick is the ULTIMATE comfort movie. This is another great one to watch over and over again by yourself or with your pals, and you’ll have fun deciding who in your group of friends is the Bridget, Lena, Carmen, and Tibby.
In Her Shoes – Doing a sisters night in?! Check out these two completely opposite sisters in the film In Her Shoes, starring Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette! This is a great movie to watch anytime with friends, family, or alone.
Legally Blonde – I credit this movie with teaching me the meaning of Ammonium Thioglycolate. However, in all seriousness, this is a fun film that again focuses more on taking care of yourself and going for what you want.
The To Do List – A more coming-of-age film about a recent high school grad who creates a list of to-do’s that all revolve around her sexuality and becoming experienced before attending college. This film has a lot of funny awkward moments LOL moments and is a great reminder that no one is perfect.
