National Read a Book Day: My Favorite Books

September 6, 2022

Are you looking for some book recommendations to get you back into reading? Here are some of my favorite books from the past few years.

Today, September 6th is National Read a Book Day, so I thought I’d share some of the books that I enjoyed reading over the past couple of years!

Throughout my adult life, I’ve found that reading comes in waves for me. There will be a couple of months where I’ll purchase multiple books and have a stack ready to go, only to lose interest in reading for the next few months, and the cycle continues like that – which is why I try my best to find fast-paced, drama-filled, books! At the beginning of the pandemic, I made a conscious effort to read more books, seeing that I suddenly had a lot more free time on my hands.

If you’re stuck in a reading rut and need some inspiration, here are some books I love that I hope you love too!

Pretty Things by Janelle Brown

As mentioned in my favorite mystery beach reads, this is a personal favorite that made me slightly paranoid about my own use of social media as this vengeful story displays just how much you can learn about someone’s background even through their curated insta profiles.

The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendricks

I just picked up this book last month and it was a great read from start to finish. This book will really suck you in and if you read/watched Girl on The Train and loved it then you absolutely need to add this to your list.

All We Ever Wanted Was Everything by Janelle Brown

Another fav of mine by Janelle Brown but this time it’s less of a mystery and more of a story about three women in one family who all find themselves struggling to find their own identity. I appreciated this story for it’s not-so-innocent storyline of a mom and her two daughters at very different stages in their lives trying to stay afloat while dealing with familial drama and personal and professional issues. I think any woman of any age can appreciate this story.

People We Meet On Vacation by Emily Henry

An excellent story that everyone can enjoy if they are looking for a fast-paced, fun and easy read. Of course this could def be added to your list of beach reads with the title itself. But this is a cute story with lots of LOL moments as the main character goes on a trip and quest to win back her former best friend.

Maybe In Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I love storylines like this that play out two very different outcomes to the main character’s life based off of one choice. For those who are in their late twenties, you’ll enjoy this easy read about a 29-year-old who feels lost looking back on her twenties and feels pressure to figure things out asap, especially as she thinks about how each decision such as whether or not she should entertain and ex or go home with her friend will impact her life further down the road.
