Shopping for the right wedding dress as a tall girl can be difficult and frustrating. Luckily, these beautiful wedding dresses will help narrow your search.
Like so many girls, I have been dreaming about my wedding day since I was little. Whether this is typical or not, the only real thing I ever concerned myself with was indeed the wedding dress. Where the wedding took place, what style of wedding, and the size of wedding were just little details to me but that wedding dress look had to be the biggest detail in envisioning my wedding. And don’t even get me started on the amount of wedding dress inspo I have saved on my computer!
If you’ve been keeping up with me, you’ll know that I recently got engaged and have been on the hunt for my dream dress these last few weeks. Since I am planning a wedding in such a short time, I knew I was limited to online shopping because of the lack of time and being that I am a VERY tall girl and had to shop for very specific looks to secure a tall-girl approved dress.
While you’ll have to wait until after the wedding to find out which dress I ended up choosing, here are some of my biggest tips for helping other tall girls find a beautiful elegant dress that compliments our beautiful tall bodies!
Tip #1
Avoid the slit at all costs! This is a tip for most dresses but for a wedding dress, it will be extremely hard to do alterations, especially if you have a short time period like myself. Stay away from any high slits!
Tip #2
Shop for lower-heeled shoes. The dress that I found is PERFECT in length! It may have been a dress made for eight inch heels because I don’t know how many average height brides would not have to take off a few inches. But for my 6’2.5” self, this dress hit the floor and allows me to wear very low-heeled shoes without them even showing. If you care about the dress covering the heels then opt for a lower heel or go with almost a flat if you have zero desire to wear heels!
Tip #3

Tip #4
Opt for a more flowy gown that’s tight through the hips if you are on a short timeline for your wedding. This puts less emphasis on the length and usually the flowy dresses come in an a-line that help you focus more on the waist and less on the end of the gown (just in case you can’t find one that quite overlaps your heels!)
