Hospital Bag Checklist for Your Due Date: Affordable Essentials & Must-Haves

February 15, 2023

Now that I’m closing in on my due date, my husband and I have been kicking things into overdrive to prepare for the arrival of our twin baby boys. While we have tackled most things, like getting the nursery ready, there is one task I’m still working on this week – packing my hospital bag.

You wouldn’t think packing a bag to take to the hospital would be such a big to-do, but it’s actually more complicated than it may seem! It’s more than just packing an extra change of clothes and a phone charger; there are so many things I didn’t realize I’d need to bring until I started watching “what’s in my hospital bag” videos on YouTube.

For all my fellow pregnant moms-to-be who are getting ready to take that trip to Labor and Delivery, here are some must-have items I’ve been ordering to throw in my hospital bag.

Now that you’ve read this list of items, here are some links to some of the essentials to make it easier and give y’all an idea of what I am packing!

My Affordable Hospital Bag Essentials:

Hospital BagWhile any overnight bag will work, I purchased this affordable amazon find that looks especially big and easy to organize which are two qualities I need for my twin hospital bag!

Bathrobe – Bringing your own bathrobe is another way to make yourself feel more comfortable during your hospital stay. I likely will purchase this affordable Amazon find that zips up so that I can nurse the twins and have company around and not be afraid of flashing them! Plus, the reviews claim that the sleeves are extra long, which is a necessity for someone who is tall like myself!

Nursing Dress – This nursing dress sold by Ekouaer looks extra long, which as a tall girl is a key selling point to buy.

Nursing Bras – Looking for affordable nursing bras?! Check out these!

Maternity Joggers – Kindred Bravely is a popular maternity brand and these joggers come with great reviews. These are great to throw on to go to the hospital and likely the days after giving birth!

Loose-Fitted Nursing Outfit – After reading the reviews that these pants ran super long, I added them to my cart asap! The shirt will make it easy to feed the babies and the loose fit of the pants will be comfortable for leaving the hospital in.

Hospital Socks – Comfort, grip and larger shoe size are essential in the search for some solid hospital socks to pack! Check out this affordable hospital sock find from Amazon that I purchased in sizes 8 to 13! These were a must-have for a tall girl with a size 11 shoe.

Toiletries – While your hospital may supply you with basic toiletries during your stay, they probably won’t be the products you’re used to using at home. I plan to fill up travel bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash – just in case I have the energy to take a full shower at the hospital. Check out this travel-sized collection and these all-in-one travel-sized toiletry tubes that are reusable and perfect for your hospital bag.
